hand painted large abstract paintings on canvas

The most important requirement for wall art canvas painting is enthusiasm for the project and stamina. You are paintings for living room and it's going to take a while, but the rewards make it worthwhile. If you have never painted large paintings on canvas before, don’t panic. You will simply apply the painting skills you get from "normal" painting. Inspired by the murals of the greats such as Leonardo da Vinci and remember that in the past centuries mural painting is more respected than easel paintings!

Prepare a surface and Get Your Mural Design on the Wall
Thoroughly clean the walls to remove all dust and grease and leave it to dry. Before starting the design, please consider using a fresh coat of paint or primer, especially if there is a color change on the wall.

The easiest way to transfer the mural design to the wall is to use the grid method. As you become more experienced, you'll likely find that you sketch the design out in less detail on the wall.

Simply put, to grid design, you need to draw a set of 1 inch or 5cm squares on the original design, and then get the same number of squares on the grid on the wall, but obviously they are much larger. You can then use these squares to guide you as you repaint the design on the wall.

What paint to use
If the mural is to be exposed to sunlight, it needs paint that can withstand this situation. Check the light resistance (UV) quality of the paint to be used.

High-quality acrylic abstract painting is ideal, but please check the budget because they may be too expensive for the entire painted artwork. If this is the case, use them as details and use "ordinary" household paint to cover in the bottom layer or larger areas. Choose paint with a matte or eggshell texture to prevent light from reflecting off the mural.

If your canvas art abstract is accessible to small children with sticky fingers, protect the mural with a final coat of protective clear varnish, which also makes cleaning it simple.

Tips for Painting
Remember to take a step back regularly to see what the mural looks like from a distance. Whether you are a close-up or just entering the room, the mural must "look right". Take a step back to get some perspective on what was done.

Use decent brushes; cheap ones will make it even harder work.
